Buck and Optimus Prime : The men behind these voices
Have you ever think of the person behind the voice of the movie you are watching? I am a fan of The Ice Age franchise. From The Ice Age 1 to The Ice Age 3 : Dawn with The Dinosaurs. What amazed me is the voice of Buck in that movie. A confidence English accent, with a little crazy attitude, I love Buck! He's small, he's crazy and he's not afraid of Rudy. The person who is responsible of making Buck a more interesting animal is Simon Pegg. I never thought it was him. I thought with a good English accent, I personally thought the Buck's voice was from Tim Roth. You know, the man who knows when someone tries to lie( Lie to Me drama). well done Simon Pegg. You made me want to watch The Ice Age 3 : Dawn with The Dinosours again and again.Talk about the famous Tranformers movies. The star of the movie is the mighty Optimus Prime. Have you ever realized that every time Optimus enters the frame, he came with an amazing background music. Always make me want to cry because the music so perfect for the giant android's entrance. The man behind it is the Canadian movie star : Peter Cullen. Do you know Eeyore? Yes, from the Winnie the Pooh, he was the voice over for Eeyore before being a voice for the Prime.
According to Cullen, he based voice of Optimus Prime on his older brother Larry who was a captain in the United States Mariner Corps during Vietnam and who came back from the war significally changed. Cullen looked up his brother and considered him a hero. So, when given the opportunity to do the voice of a superhero, he modeled it after Larry, not just in voice, but also applying Larry's post war demeanor to the character.
Among his other voice acting work, Cullen also did the voice of Ironhide in the original Transformers series, KARR in Knight Rider, Zandar in G.I. Joe and a myriad of other characters in such shows as: Duck Tales, Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Adventures of Captain Planet, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Garfield and Friends, Darkwing Duck, The Jetsons, and Gremlins, among many others.Well, love your works, gentleman!
